Speakman/Speakman/McGraw Deed of Trust, 1831 Deed Book 22, Page 496 This Indenture made the 13th day of December 1831 between Jesse Speakman of the County of Bedford of the one part and James Speakman of the same county of the other part witnesseth whereas the property hereinafter named formerly belonging to Alexander McCraw was taken by Daniel Armspaugh (Annspaugh?) constable of Bedford County and sold to satisfy an eviction then in the hands of the said Armsbaugh in the name of ........ Anderson and the said McCraw which sale took place on the the 10th day of April last and said Jesse Speakman became the purchaser of the said property at the sale of aforesaid will more fully appear by reference to a schedule and receipt of the said Armsbraugh to be filed and recorded along with and as a part of the same (marked A) and the said Jesse Speakman being desirous that Nancy McCraw the wife of said Alexander McCraw, and daughter of the said Jesse Speakman should enjoy the use of the said property and also a cow and calf hereinafter consigned with out the same being ..... molested by the creditors of the said Alexander McCraw it being the sole purpose of this trust to save the said Nancy McCraw & her children from ..... ..... .... to their use this small pittance to be hereby conveyed. Now this ..... ...... that in consideration of the promises and also in the further consideration of the sum of one dollar to the said Jesse Speakman in hand paid by the said James Speakman the receipt whereof is duly acknowledged by the Jesse Speakman hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargained unto the said James Speakman all the property named in the said schedule and also one said cow and calf and the further issue of the said cow. To have and to hold the said properties named in the said schedule and the said cow and calf .... to him the said James Speakman , his executors, administrators and assigns forever upon trust nevertheless that the said James Speakman shall permit the said Nancy and her children to enjoy the said property during the life of the said Nancy and at her death to sell the said property to the highest bidder for cash and divide the money arising from the sale among all the children of the said Nancy.
