THIS INDENTURE made the Sixth day of September in the year of our Lord one Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy Nine Between James Downing of the County of Montgomery of the one Part and William Downing of the County of Bedford of the other Part Witnesseth the said James Downing for and in Consideration of the full sum of Ninety Pounds Current Money of Virginia to him in hand Paid by the said Wm Downing the Receipt whereof he the said James Downing doth hereby acknowledge hath given Granted Bargained Sold and by these presents doth give Grant Bargain sell deliver and Confirm to him the said William Downing his Heirs and assigns forever One Certain Tract or Parcel of Land Situate Lying being in the County of Bedford Containing Two Hundred & Twelve & a half acres on Meadows Creek Bounded as followeth Beginning North Twelve degrees west One Hundred and four Poles to Pointers on a Red Oak South Eighty Two degrees west one Hundred & Sixty four Poles to a Shrub White Oak South Sixteen degrees East forty Two Poles to a Red Oak. East one Hundred & Fifty Six Poles to a Shrub White Oak North Sixty degrees East Seventy Poles to a white Oak on Meadows Creek aforesaid and up the same to the first Station Together with all and Singular Priviledges and Pertenances thereunto belonging or in any ways appertaining To Have & to Hold the abo. sold Land and Premises with all the appurtenances unto the said William Downing his Heirs and assigns forever To have and to hold use Ocupy Possess and Enjoy the same with every part and Parcel thereof to him the said Wm Downing his Heirs and assigns forever against him the said James Downing his Heirs and assigns and against the Claim and Demand of all other Persons whatsoever shall and will by these Presents Warrant and forever defend In Witness whereof he the said James Downing hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and Year first above Written Signed Seald & Delivered In presence of us James Downing (seal) John Ewing, James Kenneday, Caleb Ewing MEMORANDUM That on the day & Year first within mentioned just and Feasible Possession and Seizure of the within mentioned Land & Premises with all the appurtenances was given & made by James Downing to Wm Downing In presence of the Subscribing Witnesses whereof I have hereunto Set my hand and affixed my Seal.
