Jordan/Jordan Indenture, 1793 - Bedford Co. VA Bedford Co. Deed Book I 9, page 228 THIS INDENTURE made this Twenty first day of September one thousand Seven hundred and ninety three between Absalom Jordan Heir at Law of Jonas Jordan deceased of Bedford County of the one part and Benjamin Jordan of said County of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Absalom Jordan Heir at Law of Jonas Jordan deceased agreeable to a Decree of Bedford court November one thousand seven hundred and ninety two and for and in con- sideration of the sum of ten pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Benjamin Jordan . . . He doth hereby acknowledge and by these presents doth grant . . . in fee Simple unto Benjamin Jordan . . . a certain Tract--or parsell (sic) of Land containing Five hundred acres be the same more or less lying on Stony fork Creek on south branch of goose creek in Bedford County and bounded as followeth Beginning at a maple at the mouth of a branch on Stony fork thence a new Line South fifty-six and a half degrees West one hundred and ninety four poles to Mead and Meadors red Oak corner on the north side of the road at the Patent line, thence along the Patent line North forty degrees West fifty eight poles to a dead Hickory new pointers on a branch of Jumping Run, north seventy seven degrees East two hundred and fourteen poles to pointers on the Leland line on Stony Fork thence down the said Creek and Meanders to the Beginning. To have and to hold the said granted land and premises with all the appurtenances and benefits thereto belonging on or any ways appertaining, the said Absalom Jordan Heir at Law of Jonas Jordan deceased doth bind himself and his heirs . . . to defend the above granted land . . . unto the said Benjamin Jordan . . . in witness whereof the said Absalom Jordan Heir at Law of Jonas Jordan deceased hath hereunto set his hand and Seal on the day and Year above written.
