Between William Mead of Bedford County of the one part and Daniel Ward of Pittsylvania County of the other. Witnesseth that the said William Mead for and in consideration of the sum of fifteen pounds to him in hand paid the Receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge Hath Granted Bargained and Sold unto the said Daniel Ward One hundred fifty acres of the land on Simmons Run in Pittsylvania County and Bounded as follows to Wit. Beginning at Whittens and Meads Corner Red oak - thence along this line North sixty five degrees. West one hundred poles to a white oak in Whittens line thence off along Meads line North Twenty five degrees East two hundred poles to a white oak in Meads line thence off New lines South one hundred Poles to pointers. and south forty five Degrees West One Hundred and Twenty poles to the Beginning To have and to hold the said Granted land and Premises with the appurtenances to the same belonging unto him the said Daniel Ward his heirs and assigns forever and the said William Mead doth Warrant and forever Defend the within Grant of Land from him the said William Mead and from all other persons whatsoever unto the said Daniel Ward and his heirs forever. In Witness whereof the said Mead hath here unto set his hand and Seal the day of year above Written. Test. W. Mead L.S. W. Dabney, Stephen Heard Jr. Peter Gillum MEMORANDUM That on the day and year within written Quiet and peaceable possession and Livery of Seizen of the within Granted Land and Premises was made by the within named William Mead unto the within named Daniel Ward according to the within written Deed. Dabney, Stephen Head Jr. Peter Gillum At a Court held for Pittsylvania County 24 March 1774 This Indenture together with the Memorandum of Livery of seizen indorsed was proved by the oaths of the witnesses hereto to be acts and deeds of the within named William Mead and the same was ordered to be recorded by the Court. Test. Will. Tunstall Cl. Additional Comments: Daniel Ward was born 4 May 1739 in Henrico Co., Virginia to Benjamin Ward & unknown. Daniel Ward married to Elizabeth "Betsey" (maiden?name). He died in Franklin Co., VA 29 Jan 1826.
