There is granted by the said Commonwealth unto the said William Preast asignee of William Callaway a certain tract or parcel of Land containing five hundred acres by survey bearing date the ninth day of March one thousand Seven hundred and Seventy three lying & being in the county of Bedford on both sides of Bore Auger Creek, a south branch of Goose Creek and bounded as follows: Beginning at a small hickory on Waltons & Bufords line thence, along Bufords line; South ten degrees, East eighty six poles to a Spanish oak, south twenty five degrees, west twenty poles to a spanish oak, south fifteen degrees, east forty six poles to a white oak, south fifty six degrees west thirty poles to a hickory thence, new lines south fifteen degrees, west sixty six poles, to a spanish oak, south sixty six degrees, east one hundred & forty four poles, to a red oak, south thirty degrees east one hundred and twenty poles to a small white oak, north swventy right degrees, east seventy four poles to pointers on Steths line and along his line north one hundred and eighty six poles, to a white oak off south, fifty two degrees, west fourty poles, to Talbots corner white oak, on (?hun?his) north twenty five degrees, west one hundred and four poles, to pointers, east seventy four poles to a Red oak, north seven degrees, east two hundred & sixteen poles, crossing the creek to (?apin?) south eighty nine degrees west one hundred and fifty two poles to pointers in Waltons line, thence along his lives south forty four degrees east thirty four poles to a pine, south fifteen degrees, west one hundred and forty poles to (?back?) south eighty six degrees, west fifty four to a red oak, north forty four degrees west fifty four poles to the beginning. With its appurtenances to have and to hold the said Tract or parcel of land, with its appurtenances to the said William Preast, & his heirs forever in virtue from here of the said Beverley Randolph Esquire Lieutenant Governor of the commonwealth of Virginia both here unto set his hand and caused the seal of the said common-wealth to be affixed at Richmond on the eighth day of August the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty seven to the commonwealth the twelth (?).
