These electronic pages cannot be reproduced in any format for profit or other presentation. --------------------------------------------------------- Land Office Patents and Grants Land Grant for TOMAS PREASE 30 Dec 1816 Thomas Prease - 133 Acres - Bedford James Preston Esquire governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to all to whom these presents have come greeting: Know ye, that in conformity with a survey made the 20th day May of 1814: by virtue of two Land office Treasury warrants to wit: 87 acres by No. 1971, of the 3rd of November 1812, & 46 acres by No. 12285, of the 14th of June, 1782. there is granted by the said commonwealth, unto Thomas Prease, a certain Tract or parcel of Land containing One Hundred and Thirty tree acres, situated in the county of Bedford, on the Water of Enocks Creek, and bounded as followeth to wit. Beginning at a dead Locust, thence with Griffin's line, south twenty nine degrees, west one hundred and twenty three poles to a chesnut oak, thence with Clark's line, south sixty four degrees, west thirty seven poles,south nine degrees west forty two poles to pointers (?folventerial?), a north forty eight degrees, west eighty two poles to a red oak: Thence (?Necolian?) north forty seven degrees, East fifty eight poles to a white oaks, north ten degrees west fifty eight poles to pointers; north fifty one degrees west sixteen poles to Clarks line thence along his lines, north seventeen degrees, west seventeen poles to a white oak north sixteen degrees, east forty one poles to white oaks, north forty nine degrees, east twelve poles to said Preast's old line, thence with the same, south sixty six degrees, east tirty poles to a red oak south thirty six degrees. East one hundred and twenty poles to a white oak; and thence, north seventy degrees east seventy four poles to the beginning; to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land with its appurtenances to the said Thomas Prease and his heirs forever. In witness where of the said James P. Preston as the Governor of the Commonwealth to Virginia both here unto set his hand and caused the leser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond on the thirteenth day of December the year of Our Lord, one thousand and eight hundred and sixteen and of the commonwealth the forty first.
