Waldron/Jarred Deed of Trust, 1827 BEDFORD COUNTY, VA, DEED BOOK #20, PAGE 174/175 This indenture made this 1st day of Feb.y 1827, in the year of our Lord. One thousand, eight hundred and twenty six, by and between Moses WALROND of Bedford County, of the 1st part, and John Jarred of the said county, of the 2nd part, William Durrent, also of the said county, of the 3rd part witnesseth, that whereas the said Moses WALROND is justly undebted to the said William Durrett, the sum of fifty eight dollars & thirty five cents. Due by bond, and interest & there on from the eighteenth day December eighteen hundred & twenty six, and if being the hopest wish of the said Moses WALROND to secure to the said William Durrentt, the said debt, with interest and cost of this deed and for & in consideration, of one dollar to him the said WALROND , in hand paid by the said John Jarred, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged by him, the said Moses WALROND, both granted, bargained & sold, to him, the John Jarred, to him & his heirs forever, the following property, towit, to Featherbeds & furniture, two beadsteads, five head cattle, four head of sheep, one blackmare, one chest, one trunk, two tables, four chairs, one large pot, one smalll pot, one large oven & lid, one kettle, five hoes, two axes one plough, one covlter, one pair of trace chains, one saddle, one cradel, two spinning wheel, one cubreel, three mattocks. & two iron wedges; the said WALROND as well for himself, his heirs executors &c. doth warrant and defend the right & title in & to said property, to him the said John Jarred. Free from the claim, or claims of all persons whatsoever, both at law and in equity----upon this trust & said confidence nevertheless, that if the said Moses Walrond shall make default & fail to pay to said Durrett, his heirs or assigns, the debt aforesaid, interest & cost, on or before the 1st day of January reset, then in that case it shall be lawful for the said John Jarred his executors &c at the request of said William Durrett his heirs or assign, proceed to sell the aforesead property, or so much as will discharge the said debts, into & cost, by way of public auction for cash, at the home of said Moses WALROND after advertising the same, and time & place of all sell ten days previous, on the front door of Bedford Courthouse & the most public place nearest the residence of the said Walrond, & out of the proceed, after paying all cost herewith accredit, for recording &c together with the debt & int-due to the William Durrant, his heirs exors, admrs, or assigns.
