He was born May 11, 1862. [sic] He served two years and a half in the 14th Regiment of the Virginia Line. He enlisted March 1, 1777. He was in the battles of Brandywine and Germantown and was discharged September 10, 1779 on account of disability. He died February 3, 1842. He married May 6, 1788, Alice Brown who survived him and applied for pension March 5, 1843. She was born in 1763 and died July 9, 1844. Her marriage bond, dated May 6, 1786, is attested by Henry Brown, Jr., and Samuel Brown. Note:- The children of Jesse Witt and Alice Brown Witt were: Lettice; Elizabeth; Alice; Daniel; Milly; Jesse; Burgess. The son Jesse was a preacher.
