Bedford County, Virginia Reel 5 Image 113

Know all Men by these Presents, that we, Thomas J. Cottell and (no name written)
are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia, in the sum of one
hundred and fifty dollars. For the payment whereof, well and truly to be made,
we bind ourselves, our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and
severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed and dated this 22nd day of September
1851.
The condition of the above obligation is such, That whereas there is a marriage
shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound Thomas J.
Cotrell and Martha Jane Markham.
Now if there shall be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above
obligation to be void, or else to remain in full force and virtue.
