The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ******************************************************************************** Will of Josias Cofer I Josias Cofer of Bedford Co., and state of Virginia do hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following = That is easy to say I give to my wife, Mary, the tract of land whereon I now live and likewise the following negr slaves: Bill – Booker – Henry - Jack – Major – Louisa – Lilly _ Frank – likewise all stock of every kind and plantation utensils household and kitchen furniture for and during the term of her natural life, and after her decease I give the same to my children herein after mentioned that is to say I lend to my son Obediah after my wife’s decease the tract of land whereon I now live and two negros: Booker and Louisa for his support under the care of Caty Lanehart and for her trouble in takeing care of Obediah, she is to be supported out of the same, her life and after Obediah deceased, the said land whereon I now live. I give to my three children George, Thomas and Jamima to be equally divided among them. It is my wish that they take good care of Obediah while he lives or sees that he is taken care of. I give to them and theirs forever without any charge on said land. I give to my son Jacob that tract of land, whereon he now lives to him and his heirs forever, I price the land to him at five dollars per acre. I give to my son, Joseph, that tract of land whereon he now lives to him and his heirs forever I price that land at three and a half dollars per acre. I give to my son, Jesse, that land whereon he now lives to him and his heirs forever. I price that land at ten dollars per acre. I give to my son, George that tract of land, whereon he now lives with the addition of the land that I bought of William Harris’ Estate to him and his heirs forever. I price that land at five dollars per acre and hereafter one third of the land where I live. I give to my daughter, Jamima, two hundred acres of land adjoining the land I now live on, lying on Elk Creek, to her and her heirs forever. I price that land at seven dollars per acre, and hereafter one third part of the land where I now live. I give to my son, Thomas, two hundred acres of land adjoining the land, I now live on and Elk Creek to him and his heirs forever. I price the land at seven dollars per acre and hereafter one third part of the tract of land I now live on. I give to my son, Abraham, one equal part with the rest of my children to made up to him in personal estate to him and his heirs forever, except the land whereon I now live. Item I give to my son, Elijah, one equal part with the rest of my children, to be made up to him in personal estate to him and his heirs forever. I give to my daughter Susannah one equal part with the rest of my children, to made up to her in personal estate to her and her heirs forever.
