Will & Inventory of James Dickerson, 1869 - Bedford Co., Virginia Will Book 21, Page 510, April 9, 1869 Dickerson, James I James Dickerson of the County of Bedford and State of Virginia, do here make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows. 1st I desire my body after my death to be decently buried with Christian burial, and the expences attendant as all my just debts to be paid by my Executors. 2nd I give to my wife Evaline Dickerson for her own unrestricted use and benefit during her natural life and after death to be disposed of as hereinafter set forth, to wit the tract of land on which I now reside lying on Beaverdam Creek in the County of Bedford & State of Virginia, including small surveys & contain about two hundred and fifty five acres also one half of the mill & tract of land on Jumpin Run Creek together with all my other personal estate, not otherwise devised or which may be necessary for the payment of my debts and expences of funeral & setting up of my estate as I desire that nothing shall be detracted from the land. I desire that my children get a liberal education and after the death of my wife Evaline. 3rd I give to my sons James W. Dickersons five children to wit Sency J. Dickerson, Maryan Booker Dickerson, Peter Fr. Dickerson, Sarah An Dickerson, Elizabeth Dickerson fore dollars each. 4th I give to my dauter Sarah Henley One Hundred dollars. 5th Also give to my son John C. Dickerson one hundred dollars. 6th The balance of my estate, I desire shall be equally divided between the balance of my children, Viz Wm. M. Dickerson, Elizabeth Francis Thomason, Charles Dickerson, Polly E. Dickerson, Martha L. Dickerson & Caroline B. Dickerson. 7th If my wife Evaline should marry I desire that my estate shall come to a division when the youngest child is twenty one years old, leaving my wife one third of the estate. 8th Lastly I do hereby constitute & appoint my sons Wm. M. Dickerson and James O. Thomason Executors of this my last Will and Testament. I by this, do revoke all wills or wills by me heretofore made with my signature and seal this 9th day of April 1869. Thomason In Bedford County August 23rd 1809 This last Will and Testament of James Dickerson deceased was produced in Court, proved according to law by the oaths of David S. Nininger, James G. Board & Thomas J. Thomason, subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of James O. Thomason, one of the Executors in said will named who made oath and together with Thomas J. Thomasson his security who justified, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of Two thousand dollars, conditioned according to law. Certificate is granted him to obtain a probate of said will in due form. Which said bond is ordered to be recorded. And William M.
