Agmt. 31 Page 199 April 22, 1844 As to settlement of estate of Thomas E. Everett Elizabeth Everett/Anderson N. Everett Bedford County, VA Articles of an agreement made and entered into this 22nd day of April one thousand eight hundred and forty four between Anderson N. Everett, John F. Everett and Elbert A. Talbot who married Maria S. Everett of the first part and Elizabeth Everett of the second part witnesseth that it was the desire of Thomas E. Everett in his life time for Elizabeth Everett (his consort) to have in fee simple at his deceased the following property to wit; eight negro slaves namely Ransom, Henry, Dee, Bob, Bird, Sophia, Jenny and Jack (the children of said Sophia) with their increase, household and kitchen furniture, three horses namely Selain, Jack and Industry, horse wagon, horse cart, barouche and harness, six head of cattle, forty head of hogs, fifteen head of sheep, plantation utensils, wagon gear, also her money and bonds, but having neglected to make his will. Therefore, his desire could not go into effect. We Anderson N. Everett, John F. Everett and Elbert A. Talbot who married Maria S. Everett are willing and desirous for the aforesaid Elizabeth Everett to have and to hold the aforesaid property money and bonds as already named above in fee simple as her own forever, free from any claim or claims, demand or demanded from us the legal liens of the aforesaid Thomas E. Everett or our heirs, executors, administrators or assigns forever. Now the said Elizabeth Everett agrees to and does relinquish all right and title to any further claim upon the estate of the aforesaid Thomas E. Everett with the exception of two hundred acres of land taking in the mansion house be(?) the same more or less to hold a life estate free from interruption bounded by a new line made by the aforesaid Thomas E.
