Will of Francis Halley, 1808 - Bedford Co. VA 28 June 1808 proven 23 August 1813 WB4:100 Bedford County, VA In the name of God Amen I Francis Halley of the County of Bedford, being of sound mind, blessed be God, But calling to mind the mortality of my Body & that it is appointed for all men once to die, on this twenty-eighth day of June in the year of our Lord, one thousand eight hundred & eight, make & conclude this my Last Will and Testament. Viz, first & principally I recommend my soul to Almighty God, who gave it to me, beseeching this gracious acceptance thereof & nothing doubting, but I shall receive it again at the resurrection by the mighty power of God, my body to be committed to the Earth from which it was taken & to be buried in a decent manner at the discretion of my Executor hereafter named, and as touching(?) such worldly Estate as it hast pleased god to bless me with in this life . I give and dispose of in manner and form following to wit, first I desire that all my just debt which I shall owe at my Decease. Item I give to the Heirs of my son William Halley decd. One Dollar his having already received his proportion of my estate. Item I give to my daughter Chloe Thomas & the heirs of her Body the land whereon James Thomas formerly lived to the dividing line which I marked between me and the said Thomas in presence of James Halley & Francis Halley Junr., Item I give to my son-in-law, Wm Farrah(?) one Dollar he having already received what I thought proper to give to take daughter Prudence, Item I give to my son James Halley one Dollar, having already made a deed of gift of a Negro fellow named George to his daughter Polly Halley, Item I give to my son Joshua Halley one dollar having already made him a deed for Two Hundred acres of land, Item I give to my son Thomas Halley one Negro fellow named Ned having already made him a deed for two hundred acres of land adjoining to my son Joshua. Item I give to my son Sanford Halley one Dollar having already made him a deed to a tract of land adjoining David North. Item I give to my son Francis Halley one Negro fellow named Ben & the one half of the land whereon I now live. Item I now give to my daughter Nancy Warnock one Negro girl named Vina & land being on the north side of the roaring Branch. Item I give to my daughter Frankey Halley one Negro girl named Celia & one Negro boy named Bowser, also one half of the land whereon I now live including the house and orchard, the land she is to hold during her natural life, and after her Death I give the money left to her, to my son Francis Halley or his heirs forever. Item I give to my daughter Fanney Winfree one Negro girl named Rachel. Item I give to my daughter Suky McGlassen(?) one Negro girl named Gina(?). Item I give to my daughter Sibba Goff one Negro woman named Hannah. Item I give to my daughter Eudocia McGlasson one Negro girl named Dorcus. The residue of my Estate nor specified above, it is my Will and desire that it should be equally divided among the whole of my children or their Heirs except William Farrah(?) and Joshua Halley & their Heirs. And I appoint my sons James Halley, Sanford Halley, and Francis Halley Executors to this my last Will and Testament, revoking and dis??? All former Wills & allowing this to be my Last.
