From: Bedford County Virginia Courthouse Will of John Haynes [wife Joiey] Will Book 10; page 282 Dated: 13 Feb. 1829 Proven: 23 Nov. 1840 In The Name of God Amen. I John Haynes of the County of Bedford being in good health and of Sound mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following Viz. First, in consideration of the undertaking and promises of my Son Edmund Haynes who lives with me to provide & furnish me and my wife Joiey with a comfortable and desent support during each of our lives I give and bequeath to him my said Son Edmund Haynes all the tract of land whereon I now live, containing ninty two and a half acres had the same more or less. It being the same tract of land convayed to me by Isaac James and wife by deed bearing date the 26th day of December 1803 of record in the Clerks Office of the County Court of Bedford, to him the said Edmond Haynes and his heirs forever. Secondly, all the residue of my estate of which I may be possessed at the time of my desease I lend to my beloved wife during her life and at her death I give all my estate lent to my said wife Joiey Haynes to my Son Edmond Haynes, excepting one dollar a peace I give to my eight children Thomas Haynes, David Haynes, Anderson Haynes, Lucy Hogan, Dudley Haynes, Patrick Haynes, John Haynes, Betsey Graham to be paid by my executor herein after named. And lastly I do appoint my Son Edmond Haynes executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others or former wills and testaments herefore by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 13th day Feburary 1829.
