Will of Absalom Jordan, 1824, Inventory, 1826-1841 - Bedford Co. VA Bedford County Will Book 6, Page 312. [Paragraphing added here for clarity.] In the name of God amen. I Absalom Jordan of the County of Bed- ford Do make this my last Will and testament whereby revoking all former Wills made by me. First my Will and desire is that all my just debts be fully paid and satisfied. Item: I lend my beloved wife Mary Ann Jordan all the residue of my estate both real and personal of every description During her life. And at her death I give and bequeath to my Son John Jordan all that track of land on which I now live also one feather Bed- and furniture to him and his heirs forever. Item: I give and bequeath to my son Vincent Jordan Fifty Dollars the Said Sum to be paid him by my Executor after the death of my Wife to him and his heirs forever. Item: having amply provided for my Daughter Rosanah Dickerson, Deceased, at the time fo her intermarriage with William Dickerson Item: I give and bequeath to my grand Son Hezekiah Dickerson, son of said Dec'd. Daughter Rosanah, the sum of Sixty Dollars in addition to what I have heretofore given and paid for him the said Sum to be paid him by my Executor after the death of my Wife. Item: I give and bequeath to my Daughter Amy Jordan one good Feather bed and furniture to be Delivered to her by my Executor whenever by her demanded to her and her heirs for ever. All the remainder of my personal Estate, at the death of my Wife I desire to be sold by my Executor in such credit as he in his discretion may judge most expedient for the Interest of my Es- tate. And the money arising from such sale after payment out to Vincent Jordan, the afore said sum of fifty Dollars and also to Hezekiah Dickerson the afore said sum of Sixty Dollars. And other Just and lawful claymers (sic), I desire may be equally divided between my following sons and Daughters to wit: Lucy Noble, William Jordan, Leroy Jordan, Jeremiah Jordan, Sashwell Jordan, Ony Jordan and John Jordan. The division to be made by my Executor without the expense of Commissioners being appointed by the court for that purpose.
