IN THE NAME OF GOD AMEN. I William Lowry of the County of Bedford and State of Virginia being of a weak body but of a sound mind do hereby make this my last will and testament in the manner and form following that is to say. First, I devise that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid out my estate, after paying all of my just debts and funeral expenses. I give to my son William H. Lowry and his heirs one man Job. I give to my son Albert Lowry and his heirs one man Talbot and boy Achilles. I give to my son Richard W. Lowry and his heirs two men Living and Obey and one boy Bluford and he is to take care of and support my old woman Fanny during her natural life. I give to my son Thomas Lowry and his heirs one man Booker and boy Abun. I give to my daughter Eleanor Noell and her heirs one woman Julia and child Ann and boy Monroe. I give to my daughter Mary Bell and her heirs my blacksmith Achillis and Smiths tools. I give to my daughter Nancy Grounds and her heirs one boy John. I give to my grandson William H. Bush one girl Ann, and her increase, who is now in the possession of his father. I give to my son-in-law William Bush one dollar. I leave the following property to be sold to wit, all of my household and kitchen furniture my stock of every description, plantation utensils, crops of every description that may not be disposed of and the balance of Elliotts track of land, and divided in the following manner with money I may have and debts due my estate, to Eleanor Noell three hundred dollars, to Nancy Grounds four hundred dollars and to my grandson William H. Bush one hundred dollars and if there is any money after paying the above names sums it is to be equally divided between my three daughters Eleanor Noell, Mary Bell and Nancy Grounds and if my decease should take place after any part of the spring crop is planted my property is to be kept together until the crop is finished, and lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint my son Milton Lowry my executor of my last will & testament hereby revoking all other and former wills or testaments by me heretofore made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed my seal this the first day of May eighteen hundred and forty three. Attest. William Lowry (Seal) Edward Merriman Washington Frank Geo. W. Leftwich At a Court held for Bedford County the 26th day of June 1843. This last will and testament of William Lowry deceased was produced in Court proved by the oath of Edward Merriman and George W. Leftwich subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded and on the motion of Milton Lowry the Executor in said will named, who made oath and together with Cornelius Noell Sr., Alfred A. Bell, William H. Lowry, Albert M. Lowry and Richard W. Lowry his securities, entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of $10,000. conditioned according to law, certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate on said will in due form.
