Will of Mrs. Sarah F. Payne, 1909 - Bedford Co. VA Bedford Co., Virginia Public Records Sarah F. Payne Will - WB 33, P. 471 - 29 Sept 1909 Account - WB 34, p. 343 In the name of my Creator Amen. I Sarah F. Payne being of sound and disposing mind I make this my last will and testament. First I give to my son Henry B. Payne the best bed and bedding belonging to same (the one in my room), Two (2) tables, one half of the chairs and all of the live stock except the horse, the plantation tools, One hundred dollars in cash if he stays with me till my decease. Second I give to my daughter Joanna Payne or (Ellis) the remainder of my personal estate which includes the horse & buggy except the following bequests which is as follows. Third I give to my daughter Mrs. Jennie Chandler One dollar. Fourth I give to my daughter Mrs. Dossie Debo One dollar. Fifth I give to my son Albert R. Payne One dollar. Six I give to my son John Walter Payne One dollar. Seventh I give to my daughter Mrs. Lyddia Smith One dollar. Eight I give to Glennie Morgan One feather bed and quilts for same, if she lives with me till my decease, if not the same to go to my daughter Joanna. I hereby appoint S. P. Harris the executor of this will without bond and witness my hand and seal this the 29th day of September 1909. Sarah F. Payne (Seal) Researcher's Note: The will does not mention Sarah Frances Dickerson McClain Payne's two living sons from her first marriage to Creed McClain. (Creed died in 1855 in Bedford Co.) The sons are: James Monroe McClain, who lived in Delta Co., Texas, and Charles William McClain, who lived in Smithfield Cache, Utah and later in Los Angeles, California. She also had a daughter, Mary Booker, who died at age 6 in 1853 at Bedford Co., Virginia; the informant of Mary's death was William Dickerson, grandfather. Fannie's death was March 11, 1911. She and John Wesley Payne are buried at the family cemetery which is located down the road from the site of the old Payne house. The cemetery is located at: Rt. 1, Box 75, Goodview, Virginia 24095.
