She says that once she asked Aunt Lou (the wife of Mamma's brother Tom) to make a copy of the family record given in an old Bible, which she thinks was the family Bible of her mother, Eliza S. [Gilmore] Humes, and which Bible was then in Uncle Tom's possession. This Bible was destroyed by fire when Uncle Tom's home was burned. Mamma says she believes this pencil copy, made by Aunt Lou, is a copy of the record in her mother's family Bible. J.W. Wheatley \--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [NOTE by John Wheatley:] Mamma says as to the above: That Milly Rowland married Joseph Gilmore and was the mother of Eliza S. Humes; that Elizabeth Rowland married a Stuart; that David Rowland was the grandfather of the Tom Gilmore who married Nellie Watson; that Jesse Rowland was the grandfather of Aunt Allie (Uncle Ed's first wife); that Silas and Joel Rowland were never married. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- [Editor's Note: The identity of the Thomas Gilmore listed above is uncertain] *******************************************************************
