Present: Geo. Skillern, James Barnett, Wm. Walton, Samuel Todd & Wm. Hamilton, Gent. Justices. Ordered that 2 lbs. & 11 pence bo allowed James Robinson for 2 1/2 bushels corn, and 204 lbs. of flour furnished for publick use. Richard Salisbery is exempted from paying Parish County levies in future account of his age & infirmity. Uriah Humphries apptd. Deputy Sheriff. Delegates instructed to alter the court day from the second Thursday to the second Tuesday, it being inconvenient on account of adjacent courts. James Barnett, Senr., is exempted from poll tax. Wm. Davidson, Dep. Sheriff, returned a list of six delinquents and thirteen supernumeraries in the tax of 1782, and which are ordered to be certified. James Mason the same for 28 delinquents the same as above. Ordered that it be cortified to Honl. the General Court that collection of taxes in hands of Sheriff be delayed for a reasonable time, it being deemed that his accounts with the Treasurer could sooner be made than if execution issued against the Sheriff. Ordered that Sheriff summon 24 of the most capable freeholders to appear at next May court to serve as a Grand Jury of Inquest for this County. Wm. McClenachan gave bond in 10 lbs. to appear before the next Grand Jury on behalf of the Commonwealth to prosecute Wm. Francis for keeping an unlawful house.
