Crow, Wm. Anderson, Moses Dunlop, Wallace Estill, John Robinson and John Wills. Verdict awarding plff. damages of nine pounds, besides his costs. Judgt. accdgly. but judgment is to be discharged by the payment of ____ in species agreeable to the scale of depreciation at that time and his costs by him in this behalf expended as aforesaid and the said deft, in mercy, &c. Hill, and verdict returned in favor of plff., damages (blank space), besides his costs. Judgt. accdgly. New trial granted on motion on deft, paying costs of this day. James Cloyd, who is in custody at the suit of Patrick Counts, subscribed a schedule of his estate and prayed benefit of his oath of insolvency, which was granted him and he was discharged out of custody. Geo. Hutcheson against Wm. Madison, late Sheriff, on a motion to recover one thousand ninety-five pounds of tobacco levied from him in January, 1781. Notice proved & judgment for the plaintiff for six pounds five shillings & seven pence half penny & his costs in this behalf expended. November 14th, 1783. Present: Revd. Adam Smyth, Wm. Whereupon the plff. acquitted the deft, of all the damages except twenty pounds thereof. Judgt. was given for twenty pounds, and costs. Alexander McClure Plff. ) agst. ) In Debt Wm. Campbell & Elijah Allen Defts. ) This day came the parties &c. & also a jury, towit: Jeremiah Carpenter, Samuel Baldwin, Wm. McMullin, John Robinson, Wm. Henderson, James Dill, Wm. Barrett, James Pedan, John Pedan, Wm. Allen and Wm. Johnston. Verdict retd. in favor of plff. Judgt. for eight sixteen shillings and eight current money with int. thereon from 24th day of January, 1780 till paid & his costs. The verdict in Hutcheson against Madison, motion in which was entered yesterday, is that Hutcheson be paid three pounds two shillings and three pence, the ballance due the said Hutcheson, with int. thereon from 15th day of January, 1781 till paid & his costs. Francis Graham recommended to the Governor as a fit person to execute office of a Captain of the militia, Joseph Richardson Lieutenant and Geo. Graham Ensign. Also David Wallace Second Lieut, in Capt. Cartmill's Company, Robert Wallace Ensign. Also Henry Walker Captain, James Calvert Lieut. and Wm. Walker, Junr., Ensign in Capt. Taylor's Company. Christopher Hurst granted licence to keep an ordinary at his house. Bond entered into with Revd. Adam Smyth and Thos. Bowyer, securities. John McIntire is apptd. Constable in this County.
