John West appointed Surveyor of the Road from the Red-ford line to Glade Creek, succeeding John Depew. Griffeth Dickerson, Sr., exempted from payment of Parish and County levies in future on account of age and infirmity. William Dougherty allowed 2 pounds 10 shillings for beef. Richard Maze 2 pounds 12 shillings and 1 penny for beef. Isaac Rentfroe (Minister) appointed to solemnize rites of matrimony in the County, according to law. Godfrey Hamilton appointed Surveyor of the Road from the Bedford Line to the head of a beechnut near the Indian Graves. Ordered that the Sheriff summon 24 freeholders to appear at next Court to serve as a Grand Jury of Inquest. Wm. Smith, Wm. Kincaid, James McCallister and Moses Mann appointed to view the road from Thomas Fitzpatrick's to the Indian Draft. Richard Maze appointed Surveyor of the Road from the County lino to the Red Hill, succeeding Samuel Beard. October 13, 1784. Henry Cartmill, Allen Gulliford and John Humphries fined for not attending to serve as jurymen. October 14, 1784. Capt. Henry Walker appointed to open a bridle way from Craigs Creek to Thomas Price's, Thomas Price from his house to John Galloway's, James Moss from the County Line to James Brown's. Jacob Carper exempted from payment of one of the poll taxes on his Negro Tom for the year 1783, it appearing that he had been twice returned. October 15, 1784. Jesse Clark allowed 10 pounds for collecting grain tax for the year 1780. October 23, 1784. John Treanor took oath of Deputy Sheriff. Nicholas Pryor granted license to keep an ordinary at the house of Joseph Paxton, Pat Lockhart security. Pat Lockhart and Robert Harvey appointed to settle accounts of James Mason as Deputy Sheriff. Job Hale appointed Constable, succeeding Joseph Cooper. Wm. Robinson and Robert Harris fined for not attending to servo as jurymen. The Grand Jury presented the following persons: Surveyor of the Road from James Dalzell's to the County Line, for not keeping same in repair as the law directs; also John Wills, Surveyor of the Road from Anderson's Ferry to Dr. John Wood's, for not keeping same in repair; also Surveyor of the Road from the court house to Nicholas Haynes', for not keeping same in repair; also surveyor of the road from the forks of Johns Creek to Craigs Creek for not keeping same in repair. David Laird for retailing liquors contrary to law. John Ledgerwood for keeping Lucy Kerr unlawfully and having a child by her. James McClure for unlawfully cohabiting with Eliza Stewart. Surveyor of the Road from Moore's Creek to Dot Wood's for not keeping same in repair, also the Surveyor of the Road from the County Line to the Red Hill, also the Surveyor of the Road opposite Capt. Pryor's leading to Anderson's Ferry. Little Joseph Pryor for unlawfully cohabiting with Wm. Fulton's wife. Summonses issued against the several persons returned by the Grand Jury. Leave granted Robert Scandland to build a water grist mill on Catawba Creek on his own land. James McMullin appointed Constable in Capt. Estill's Company.
