The Court proceeded to lay the levy. Sheriff ordered to collect 64 pounds of tobacco from every tithable in the County. Thomas Pryor allowed 38 pounds 14 shillings. Philip Love allowed 12 pounds 8 shillings on his account. Wm. Crow allowed 17 pounds 1 shilling 8 pence for keeping William Duncan to this day. Pat Lockhart gave bond for collection of County Levy, with Thomas Bowyer and David May his securities. John Smith and William Anderson placed under bond for good behavior for a year and a day. Ordered that the delegates have the Assembly pass an act to revise a former act authorising the several counties to appoint Commissioners of the Land Tax, the time named in the said act for the appointment having expired before the act came to hand, by reason whereof the County is without Commissioners.
