The entry for March 15 references an event appearing in the minutes labeled "May 14" as "yesterday".] Samuel Philips allowed pay for maintaining a foundling child for one year. Robert Shanklin granted leave to include his lands in one survey. Miles Terry fined 20 pounds for breach of the peace. Miles Terry imprisoned for 8 days and placed under bond for good behavior for 12 months and 1 day for insulting Samuel Eason, Gent., in the execution of his office as Magistrate. Samuel Woods appointed Constable, {succeeding John Glenn. Allen Cox exempted from payment of Parish and County levies on account of his age and infirmity. James Robinson appointed Constable, succeeding Edward McCallister. Pat Lockhart, Jacob Carper, Samuel McRoberts and Johnathan Newman appointed to view way from this Town to the Brunswick Iron Works. Wm. Bryant placed under bond for this good behavior for 1 year and 1 day. Ordered that John Showsbery examine ____ Craig, Jr., touching his capacity as a Surveyor. Reported duly qualified and took oath required by law. Cornelius Duval granted leave to turn the road between Mrs. Howard's and Augustine Hackwitb's as to him may appear most advisable to answer the public purposes. Wm. Campbell appointed guardian of Archibald Simpson, orphan of Wm. Simpson, decd. Henry, Wm., and David Wright securities. Wm. McClelan Granted leave to include his lands in one survey. John Johnston, same as next above. George Hannah, same as next above. Uriah Humphries, same as next above. Wm. McClintock recommended to his Excellency Pat Henry as a pensioner, he having been badly wounded at the Battle of Guilford. James Tosh appointed Constable, succeeding Jos. Richardson. March 15, 1786. Johnathan Howell appointed Surveyor of the Road. Leonard Huff exempted from payment of Parish and County levies, account of his age and infirmity. James McCarroll appointed Overseer of the Road, succeeding Ephriam Willson. Miles Terry acquitted of the 8 days' imprisonment ordered yesterday. Ordered that a road be established from Wm. Robinson's to Pepper's Ferry, and that Geo. Rutledge be appointed Surveyor of same. The order made yesterday to fine Miles Terry 20 pounds is set aside. March 16, 1786 Ordered that the road leading from Cross Ferry into the Main Road called "Crows Road" be discontinued. John Allen appointed Constable in Capt. Pryor's Company. Saml. Eason appointed to list taxable property within the bounds of Thos. Goodson's, Josiah Martin's and his own Company of Militia. James Barnett same in his own Company. Wm. McClenachan same in ____ and Graham's Companies. Robert Harvey same in Robinson's Company. Mathew Willson same in Mills' Company. Thomas Rowland same in Capt. Smith's Co. Geo. Skillern same in Capt. Cartmill's Co. Samuel Todd same in Capt. Frazer's Company. Martin McFarran same in Capt. Pryor's Co, John Baller same in his own and Capt. Estill's Co. Geo. Rutledge same in Watterson's and Neelly's Companies. Thomas Rowland appointed Commissioner of the Land Tax in this County, Resigns his office, and Saml. Todd and Wm. Dundron appointed to act. Robert Hill appointed overseer of the road in place of Wm. Davidson. Charles Tooley allowed 31 pounds 2 shillings 4 pence furnished for use of the Continental Army. Jacob Carper appointed overseer of the road, succeeding Isaac Vanmeater. Wm. McClenachan appointed Overseer of the Road. Jacob Parsinger allowed 55 shillings for a helper furnished Capt. Wallace's Company of Regular Troops.
