Jacob Danner placed under bond for his good behavior. Sampson Sawyer took oath as Justice of the Peace. The Grand Jury made the following presentments: Surveyors of the Road from Michael Cloyd's to Nicholas Carper's for not keeping same in repair. Overseers of the Road from Lewis' Store to the Big Lick, same. William Brown, tenant of Moses Allen, for stopping the highway. William Johnston for harboring thieves and disorderly persons. Peter wright for retailing liquor contrary to law. Milley Gladden for fornication. Peter Miller for braeking [sic] the Sabbath five sundry times. James Gorden for profanely swearing two oaths. This Court doth recommend Hugh Crockett to be Colonel Commandant, James Barnett Colonel, and Saml. Eason, to be Major of the upper Battallion in this County, also William McClenachan Colonel Commandant, Patrick Lockhart Colonel, and Jno. Baller Major of the Lower Batallion in said County. John Hawkins resigns as Magistrate in this County. May 14, 1788. Joseph Hanes granted license to retail goods for one year from date. John Harris and Robert King fined for not appearing to serve as jurymen. May 15, 1788 Ordered that the day preceding the monthly court day be appointed for entering the rules in the Clerk's Office of this County. Hugh Allen appointed Commissioner of Taxes, succeeding Samuel Todd. May 16, 1788. License granted Thomas King to retail goods. James Roberts took the oath of Deputy Sheriff. Patrick Lockhart took the oath of a Justice of the Peace and a Justice of the County Court in Chancery. On motion of James Breckenridge, it is ordered to be certified that he is a person of honesty, probity and good demeanor.
