Written: April 1777

At a court held for Botetourt County 8 of April, 1777.
Present:  John Bowyer, William Fleming, William Madison, & Andw. Donally, Gent.
Justices.

    William McClanachan, one of the Gentlemen named on the Commission of the
Peace for Botetourt County, took the oath of a Justice of the Peace & Terminer.

    Samuel Courathers is apptd. Surveyor of the Road in the room of Thomas
Posey, who is dischd. from that office.

    Francis McElhenry is apptd. a Constable in the room of John Henry, who is
dischd. from that office.

    William McNeelley is apptd. a Constable in the room of Isaac Taylor, Junr.,
who is dischd. from that office.

    Ord. that the Sheriff summon twenty four of the most capable freeholders in
his bailiwick to serve at the next court as a Grand Jury of Inquest for the body
of this County.

    George Givens is apptd. Surveyor of the Road in the room of Sumeral Givens,
who is dischd. from that office.

    Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till the court in course.

    The minutes of these proceedings were signed by
