John Smyth's on James River to Pattonsburg, for not keeping roads in repair. True bill against John Hamilton for breach of the peace. True bill aganist [sic] John Green for breach of the peace. John Cole fined for not appearing to serve on the grand jury. November 15, 1797 John Moore placed under bond for his good behavior. Peter Circle granted license to keep an ordinary at his house. James Mason, Gent., late Sheriff, again took oath of a Justice of the Peace. November 16, 1797 It appearing to the court that the small pox hath broken out on the body of James Bratton, who is now in the town, it is ordered that inoculation for the same be prohibited. Sheriff ordered to remove James Bratton to some convenient place in the County to prevent the spreading of the disease, and all persons prohibited from going near or having any intercourse with the said Bratton, and the place to which he is removed is appointed a hospital for the reception of any other persons who may take the said disease.
