Present. James Trimble, James Henderson, Geo. Killern, Adam Smyth and Richard May, Gent. Justices. Josiah McCormack proved a certificate accdg. to law for eleven hundred and thirteen pounds of hemp, which is assigned to Bryant McArnold. Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till tomorrow morning, ten o'clock. The minutes of these proceedings were signed by James Trimble At a court contd. & held for Botetourt County the 11th of January, 1775. Present. James Trimble, Benjamin Estill, Geo. Skillern, James Henderson & Adam Smyth, Gent. Justices. Simion Alderson being brought into court for a breach of the peace and heard on his defence, on consideration it is ordered that the said Simion find security for his good behaviour for one year in the sum of twenty pounds. John Bowyer, William Fleming, Andrew Woods, Philip Love and Wm. McKee took the usual oaths to his Mjsty.'s Person & Govt., repeated & subscribed the test, took the oaths of Justices of the County Court, of the County Court in Chancery, and Oyer and Terminer. Simion Alderson, Luke Pryor and Joseph Carrol acknd. themselves severally (missing word) to our Sovereign Lord George the Third by the Grace of God of Great Britain, France and Ireland, King Defender of the faith &c, the said Simion in the sum of ten pounds and the said Luke, and Joseph in five (word missing) of their respective goods and chattels, lands and tenaments, to be levied to our Lord the King rendered. But upon this condition: that the said Simeon shall be of good (word missing) for and during the term of one year, then this recognizance to be void. Ordered that William Fleming, Geo. Skillern, Richard May and Adam Smyth do convey the several lotts sold by the Court of this County in the Town of Fincastle to the several purchasers thereof and that they or any three of them do sell to the highest bidder (after advertizing the time appointed for that purpose at the Court House) the several lots in the said town, and also the lots of Woodland belonging to the County on twelve months' credit for one half of the purchase money and two years for the other. George Patterson proved a certificate according to law for four hundred and eighty pounds of hemp for John May. On a complaint against William Anderson for a breach of the peace, the said Anderson heard on his defence. Court's opinion that he find security for his good behaviour in the sum of two hundred pounds. William Anderson, Henry Paulin and George Poage came into court and acknd. themselves severally indebted to our Sovereign Lord the King George the Third, & the said Anderson in the sum of one hundred pounds and the said Henry and George in the sum of fifty pounds each of their respective goods and chattels, lands and tenements to be levied and our said Lord the King and successors rendered. But on the condition that the said William Anderson shall be of good behaviour to all his Majesty's liege for & during the time of one year, then this recognizance to be void. Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till the court in course.
