Present: Adam Smyth, Pat Lockhart, Wm. Davidson, Wm. Neelly, Geo. Skillern & William Hamilton, Gent. Justices. James Barnett is appointed Surveyor of the Road in the room of Peter Diarly, who is dischd. from that office. Robert Steel, Lieutenant in the Militia, took the oath reqd. by law. On a petition of John Taylor leave is granted him to keep an ordinary at his house in this County for the space of twelve months from this time, he having entered into bond in the sum of fifty pounds according to law with Joseph Looney his security. Andrew Armstrong Plff. ) agst. ) In Detinute William Dunn Deft. ) This day came the parties &c. & also a jury, towit: Moses Tully, Uriah Humphries, Joseph Kyle, William Miller, Matthew Scott, John Keenny, Moses Dunlop, James Dalzell, Robert Preston, Henry Waterson, Curtis Alderson & John Rusk, who retd. verdt. in favor of the plff. for articles mentioned in contract damages of 1200 lbs. Judgt. accdgly. & costs. On the petition of Peter Wright leave is granted him to keep an ordinary at his house in this County for twelve months from this time, he having entered into bond in the sum of fifty pounds according to law with Thomas Hall, his security. George Skillern is apptd. to take a list of the tithables in the bounds of Captain Logan's and Smith's Company of Militia. Andrew Woods in Captain Rowland's Company. Captain Lockhart in his own and Captain Holston's Company. George Rutledge in Captain Robinson's and McMurtray's Company. Josiah Martin in Captain Willson's and Eason's Company. William Neelly in Captain Pauling's and McClenachan's Company. William Walton in Captain Barnett's Company. Martin McFarran in Captain Pryor's Company. William Davidson in Captain Hanley's, Bailer's and John Robinson's Company, and William Hamilton in Captain May's Company. The Commonwealth against Thomas Welsh for retailing liquors, parties heard, ordered that the said Welsh find two securities to be bound himself in fifty pounds and his securities in twenty five pounds each with condition that the said Thomas Welsh shall not retail any spiritous liquors without first obtaining a licence from the court for that purpose. On the petition of Moses Dunlop leave is granted him to keep an ordinary at his house in this County for twelve months from this time, he having entered into bond with Andw. Armstrong his security in the sum of fifty pounds according to law. Leave is granted Thomas Madison to include all his land adjoining the Stone House in one survey, he having complyed with the law. William Ritchey the same order as next above. Ordered that Wm. Brooks, a bastard child of Anne Brooks be bound out by the Commissioners accdg. to law. Ord. that the court be adjd. till court in course.
