Present: Geo. Skillern, Pat Lockhart, James Barnett, & Wm. Davidson, Gent. Justices. Geo. Barnett and Moses Dickerson are exempt from paying County levies in future on acct. of their age & infirmity. John Dunn in Captain Barnett's Company the same. Ord. that Redmon Akins, Thomas Akins, John Caldwell & Moses Penter, being first sworn do view the road from the Fork Survey on John's Creek to Taylor's Mill on Craig's Creek and ret. and acct. thereof to the courts. Ord. that the road be established round the plantation of the Revd. McWallace's agreeable to report and that the said McWallace be Surveyor of the Road from the creek near Mrs. Breckinridge's to the Stone House, and that Wm. Neelly appoint the tithables to work on said road. Francis Grymes is apptd. Surveyor of the Road from the Stone House to the Big Lick, and that Wm. Neelly allot the tithables to work on said road. Francis Smith is apptd. Surveyor of the Road from James Dalzell's to the creek beyond Mrs. Breckinridge's and that the tithables who wrought on the same under James Robinson do attend & work thereon. A licence is granted to John McArnold to keep an ordinary at his house in this County for the space of one year from this time, he having entered into bond with David May, his security, in the sum of fifty pounds accdg. to law. Ord. that the children of Wm. Rowland, decd, except Elizabeth be bound out according to law. Toliaferro Craig is appointed Surveyor of the Road from the Big Lick to Mason's Creek, Robert Neelly from said Creek to Fort Lewis and Moses Dunlop from Fort Lewis to Wm. Madison. This court doth appoint and impower Nicholas Carper to provide a stove for the use of the County and that he be furnished with cash for that purpose. Wm. Terry is exempt from paying County levies in future on account of his age. David May is recommended to his Excellency tho Governor as a fit person to act as an Escheator in this County. Ord. that the court be adjd. till court in course.
