Present: Geo. Skillern, Josiah Martin, Wm. Neelly, Robert Poage and Pat Lockhart, Gent. Justices. A licence is grtd. Archibald Kyle to keep an ordinary at his house in this County, he having entd. into bond in the sum of fifty pounds accdg. to law with James Rowland his secty. Ord. that Grace, a child of Elizabeth Anne Hudson, be bound to Jesse McComb accdg. to law. Ord. that John & George Rowland, orphans of William Rowland, decd., be bound to Wm. & Geo. Graham till they arrive at the age of twenty one years to be bound by the Executors. Ord. that Robt. Rowland be bound also to Francis Graham, Wm. Rowland to John and Robert Armstrong, Amey to James Rowland, and Sarah to Thomas Rowland, till they arrive respectively to age. Ord. that a Platt, including all Thomas Meyer lands in the Falling Spring Valley be certified it appearing to the court that he hath taken the regular steps of the law in this case made & provided. Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till tomorrow morning, ten o'clock. The mins. of these prcdgs. were signed by Geo. Skillern At a court contd. & held for Botetourt County the 15th day of March, 1782. Present: Geo. Skillern, Patrick Lockhart, Thomas Rowland & Wm. Davidson, Gent. Justices. Ord. that James Rowland, Nicholas Carper, Samuel McFarran & Wm. Kyle or any three of them being sworn do view the way proposed by John Peck for altering the road leading from this Town to the road by Thomas McFarran's, as also the way that the road which Wm. Harvey proposes to take by his mill, and report the same to the court. Wm. McClenachan prded. a commission from his Excellency the Governor apptg. him Sheriff of this County, who took the oath reqd, by law. The Sheriff of this County enters his protest against the prison of this County. Thomas Fulton took the oath of a Deputy Sheriff of this County. A licence is grtd. to Thomas Fulton to keep an ordinary at the house of Capt. Thomas Bowyer in this Town, he having entd. into bond in the sum of fifty lbs. accdg. to law with Wm. McClenachan his security. Ord. that a road be established agreeable to a report made & returned by Moses Bennett, Samuel McClure and John Shields from Hugh Allen big mouth to Isaac Vinsandt's and that Joseph Miller be Surveyor thereof, who with the tithables petitioning for said road is to open & keep the same in repair as the law directs. The mins. of these prcdgs. were signed by Geo. Skillern At a court contd. & held for Botetourt County the 16th day of March, 1782. Present: Geo. Skillern, Pat Lockhart, Wm. Davidson and Thomas Rowland, Gent. Justices. Ordered that Geo. Rutledge to take in the taxable property within the bounds of Capt. Looney's Co. of Militia in the room of Wm. Hamilton and Pat Lockhart in Capt. Holston's in case the Revd. Mr. Smyth doth not return home in time to do it. Ordered that Wm. Davidson, Gent., to take a list of the tithables within the bounds Capt. Pryor and Beard Companies of Militia in the room of Capt. Bailer who is to take in a list of the tithables in Capt. Galloway's Company. Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till ct. in course. The mins. of these prcdgs. were signed by Geo.
