Written: November 1775

At a court held for Botetourt County the 13th of February, 1776.

Present.
    John Bowyer, George Skillern, Wm. McKee, Wm. McClenachan & William Madison,
Gentlemen Justices.

    John Gabriel Jones makes oath that he imported himself into this country
from Great Britain at his own expence and that he hath never before proved such
importation in order to entitle himself to his Majesty's bounty of fifty acres
of land.

    Ord. that the court be adjd. till court in course.

    The minutes of these proceedings were signed by

At a court hold at Botetourt Courthouse on Monday the nineteenth of February, 1776.

Present. George Skillern, Andrew Woods, Richard May and Adam Smyth, Gent., for
the examination of Francis Armstrong on suspicion of felony the said Francis
being set at the bar and it being demanded of him whether he was guilty of the
felony wherewith he stands charged, a not guilty pleaded that he was not guilty.
Whereupon sundry witnesses were sworn & examd. on behalf of our said Lord the
King & the said Francis heard in his defence. On consideration whereof the court
are of opinion. (The rest of the proceedings of the court are lost.)
