Written: January 1783

At a court held for Botetourt County the 9th of January, 1783.

    Present: Revd. Adam Smyth, Thomas Rowland, Martin McFarran & William Neelly,
Gent. Justices.

    Abram Ellis is excused from future payment of County and Parish levies on
account of his age and infirmity.

    Archibald Lingnorker the same as next above.

    James Lyle, Junr., is unanimously apptd. Deputy Clerk of this County,
whereupon he took the oath of office reqd. by law.

    Henry Coleman is apptd. Surveyor of the Road from the uper ford on Roanoke
to the County line in the room of William Madison, Gent., decd.

    Benjamin West is apptd. Surveyor of the Road from the Stone House to the
Bedford Road, & Mr. Thomas Madison is to allott tho tithables to work on sd.
road to keep the same in repair as the law directs.

    John Allen is apptd. Surveyor of the Road from Hugh Allen's plantation to
Vinsandt's Mill.

    Ord. that the ct. be adjd. till ct. in course. The mins. of these prcdgs.
were signed by
