Headley This Indenture made this the Twenty first day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand and eight hundred and one Between James Lackey and Mary his wife of Botetourt County and State of Virginia of the one part and William Gilmore of the County of Rockbridge and State aforsesaid of the other part witnefseth that the said James Lecky and Mary his wife for and in Consideration of the sum of Seventy pounds current Money of Virginia to him in hand paid, hath given Granted Bargained and Sold unto the said William Gilmour a Certain Tract or parcel of land on the North Side of James River in the said County of Botetourt Bounded as folloeth to wit Begining at a poplar on the Bank of the River corner to his old Patend tract of Land and runneth thence North one Hundred and fifty poles with said line to his Corner White oake(?) and Black oak weth thirty poles to three Chesnuts and on a hill South twenty Degrees west one Hundred and Ninety Poles to two Locusts and White oak and Red oak on the bank of the River and down with the Courses thereof one Hundred poles to the Begining containing by Estimation Sixty two Acres be the Same more of lefs with all its appurtenances to the Said William Gilmour his heirs or Afsignes forever for him self his Heirs Executors and administrators doth Covenant with the said William Gilmour and his Heirs that the Said James Lecky and Mary his Wife for themselves there Heirs Executors and Administrators the said tract of land with its Appurtenances to the William Gilmour and his heirs and Afsigns will forever Warrant and Defend in Witnefs whereof the Said James Lecky and Mary his wife hath Let there Hands and Seal this day and year Writen Sign Seal and Deliver { James Lackey SEAL in Presents of us Mary Lacky SEAL At Botetourt April Court 1801 1801: Sale of Land James Lackey and wife Mary . . . to William Gilmour 62 acres 70 pounds Virginia money ************************************************ Land Grant - BENJAMIN PACK - 100 acres - BOTETOURT CO., VA Beverly Randolph Esquire, Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, To all to whom these presents come, Greetings: Know ye that in consideration of the ancient composition of ten shillings sterling paid by BENJAMIN PACK unto the Treasury of the Commonwealth there is granted by the said Commonwealth unto said BENJAMIN PACK, assignee of Colonel William Flemming, a certain tract or parcel of land, containing one hundred acres, by survey bearing date the twenty first day of May, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Five, lying and being in the County of Botetourt on the waters of Looneys Creek a branch of James River joining the land of Hugh McNeil and the land of Robert Montgomery and Patrick Sharkey and his own land and bounded as followeth, to wit. Beginning at two white oaks corner to said Sharkey and Montgomery land and runneth north eighty degrees past one hundred and forty four poles to two white oaks and black oak, north five degrees past one hundred and forty eight poles to two black oaks, north twenty degrees, east to a white oak and black oak saplings in a hollow corner to Hugh McNeil and with his line, south twenty degrees, east one hundred and four poles to two black oaks on a ridge, thence south twenty nine degrees, (can’t make out this word) forty poles to two large white oaks corner to his own land, south twenty degrees, west one hundred and fifty two poles to white oaks on a ridge, thence north eight degrees, east two hundred poles to the beginning with its appurtenances. To have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said BENJAMIN PACK and his HEIRS forever. In witness whereof, the said Beverly Randolph Esquire, Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, hath hereunto set his hand, and caused the lesser seal of the said Commonwealth to be affixed at Richmond, on the tenth day of July in the year of our Lord, One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Seven and of the Commonwealth the twelfth.
