BOTETOURT COUNTY, VA – DEED: JAMES PATTON/ANDREW CRAWFORD , 1775 ----???---- Botetourt County, Virginia Deed Book 2, p 76 LDS 0030702 Thompson & Preston to Andrew Crawford – Exd This Indenture Made the Thirteenth Day of February One Thousand seven Hundred and seventy five Between William Thompson and William Preston only acting Executors of the last Will and Testament of James Patton late of the County of Augusta Gent. deceased of the one Part, and Andrew Crawford of the County of Botetourt of the other Part, Witnesseth, That for and in consider- ation of the sum of Five shillings by the said Andrew Crawford to the said William Thompson & William Preston before the sealing and Delivering hereof, They the said William Thompson & William Preston pursuant to the power to them given in and by the last Will and Testament of the said James Patton Have granted, bargained, and sold, and by these presents Do grant, bargain, and sell, unto the said Andrew Crawford one certain Tract or parcel of Land containing One Hundred and thirteen acres be the same more or less, Granted to the said James Patton by Letters Patent bearing Date the third Day of November MDCCL Lying and Being in the county of Botetourt formerly Augusta on Craigs Creek a Branch of James River and Bounded as followeth to wit Beginning at two Pines on the East side of the Creek Running Thence South seventy Degrees, West sixty four poles Crossing the Creek to two white Oaks and a Pine Thence North thirty Degrees West sixty six poles to a Spanish oak and white Oak Thence North nine Degrees West two hundred poles to three white Oaks Thence north sixty five Degrees East sixty poles to four poplars growing from one root on the West side of the Creek Thence South fifteen and one half Degrees East two hundred and sixty six poles Crossing the Creek to the Beginning To Have And To Hold the said Land and premises, with the appurtenances unto the said Andrew Crawford his Executors and Administrators, for the Term of one year from the Day of the Date hereof, to the End that, by virtue of these presents, and of the stature for transferring seses into possession, the said Andrew Crawford may be so in possession of the said Lands and premises as to be able to take and accept of a grant and Release of the Reversion and Inheritance thereof to him and his Heirs forever. And the said William Thompson and William Preston for themselves their Heirs, Executors and Administrators, Do covenant and grant to and with the said Andrew Crawford his Heirs and assigns, that they the said William Thompson and William Preston and their Heirs, the said Land and premises hereby conveyed, and every part thereof, unto the said Andrew Crawford his Heirs and assigns against them the said William Thompson & Wm Preston, and the said James Patton and his and their Heirs shall and will warrant, and forever defend by these presents.
