Allen of the County aforesaid of the other part witnesseth that the said John Dodd & Sally his wife in consideration of two hundred and twenty five Dollars of Lawfull money of this Commonwealth to them in hand paid by the said James S Allen at or before the delivery of these presents (the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged) have bargained sold aliened and confirmed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell alien and confirm unto the said James S. Allen his heirs and assigns all their right title and interest to a certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the County of Botetourt on James River containing ______ acres be the same more or less sold by Charles Starret to William Dodd the father of the said John Dodd the title to which is now in legal controversy between the heirs of the said William Dodd & Charles Starret and a right to one half of which became vested in the said John Dodd by the death of his father the said William Dodd it being the land upon which he resided at his death and of which his dead seized and the said John Dodd and Sally his wife hereby convey bargain and sell their undivided share (it being one half) of the said tract or parcel of land to the said James S. Allen his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the priviledges and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any way appertaining - to have and to hold the said share or part of the aforesaid tract or parcel of land together with all and singular the premises and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any ___?___ appertaining hereby (or intending to be) conveyed bargained and sold unto the said James S. Allen his heirs & assigns forever (to defer the only problem use on behalf of him the said James S. Allen his heirs and assigns forever) and the said John Dodd & Sally Dodd his wife for themselves & their heirs. The said undivided share or moiety of the aforesaid tract or parcel of land with all and singular premises and appurtenances thereunto appertaining unto the said James S. Allen his heirs and assigns free from the claim or claims of them the said John Dodd and Sally his wife or either of them or either of their heirs and of all and every person or persons whatsoever claiming by through or under them but not against the claim of any other person or persons shall will and do warrant and forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof the said John Dodd and Sally Dodd his wife have hereunto set their hand and seals the day and year first above written.
