Submitted by: Marilyn B, Headley This Indenture made this thirteenth day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and Eighteen between William Gilmore and Martha his wife of the County of Rockbridge and state of Virginia of the one part and James Lackey of the County of Botetourt said state of the other part Witnefseth that the said William Gilmore and Martha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand Dollars current money of Virginia to them in hand paid the reciept whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained and sold unto the said James Lacky a certain tract or parcel of Land on the North side of James River in the said County of Botetourt and is Bounded as follows Begining at two ash & walnut trees on said River and runing thence up the several courses thereof three hundred and fifty poles to a walnut poplar and hickory thence North 140 poles thence East 340 poles thence South 210 poles to the Begining Containing by Estimation four hundred acres being the same and more or lefs with all its apertinances to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of Land with all its appertenaces there into belonging to the sole use and behoof of him James Lackey and his heirs forever and they the said William Gilmore and Martha his wife for themselves and their heirs doth hereby covenant to and with the said James Lackey and his heirs that they will forever warrant & defend the title of said land (in fee simple) against the claims of all persons whatsoever In testimoney whereof the do hereunto set their hands and seals the date first written in the Indenture Wm Gilmore Seal Botetourt County to wit Martha Gilmore Seal We John Douglas & David Rowland Magistrates of County of Botetourt State of Virginia do hereby certify that William Gilmore party to the written conveyance hath duly acknowledged the same before us on the 30 day of April in the year one thousand Eight hundred & Eighteen and desired us to certify the said acknowledgment to the Clerk of the county court of Botetourt in order that the said conveyance may be recorded As witnefs our hands & seals John Douglas Seal David Rowland Seal ************************************************************************** Botetourt County, VA Deed Book 13, pg. 466 Submitted by: "Marilyn B. Headley", 1997 This Indenture made this thirtieth day of April in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred & Eighteen Between William & Martha his wife of the County of Rockbridge and state of Virginia of the one part and Nathan Lackey of the County of Botetourt of said state of the other part Viz that the said William Gilmore and Martha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of one thousand Dollars to them in hand paid the reciept thereof they do hereby acknowledge hath bargained & sold and by these presents doth confirm unto the said Nathan Lackey and his heirs one certain tract or parcel of Land lying in the said County of Botetourt on the North side of James River and containing 62 acres be the same more or lefs and Bounded to the Maguilio?
