Headley", 1997 This Indenture, made this 16th day of May in the year of our Lord 1850 between James Lackey of the County of Botetourt and Robert A. Lackey and Eliza Jane his wife of the County of Rockbridge and State of Virginia of the one part, and John Thompson of the county of Botetourt and State of Virginia of the other part, witnefseth, that they the said James Lackey Robert A. Lackey and Eliza Jane his wife for and in consideration of the sum of twenty six hundred dollars paid by the said John Thompson the receipt of which they the said James B. Lackey, Robert A. Lackey and Eliza Jane his wife do hereby acknowledge, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said John Thompson the one third of three undivided tracts or parcels of land situated in the county of Botetourt on James River and adjoining the lands of Thomas Lackey, Richard H. Burks and other, being the tracts or parcels of land of which Nathan Lackey died in possession of - said tracts or parcels together containing about 342 acres more or lefs, with all its appurtenances, to have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land with all the appurtenances thereto belonging to the sole use and behoof of him the said John Thompson and his heirs forever, and they the said James B. Lackey, Robert A. Lackey and Eliza Jane his wife, for themselves and their heirs do covenant with the said Thompson that they will forever warrant and defend the title of said land in fee simple against the claims of all persons whatever, In testimony where of the said James B. Lackey, Robert A. Lackey and Eliza Jane his wife do hereto subscribe their names and affix their seals the date above written James B. Lackey Seal Seal Seal Botetourt County to wit: We Richard H. Burks and Thomas G. Burks Justices of the peace in the aforesaid County do hereby certify that James B. Lackey a party to a certain deed bearing date on the 10th May 1850, and hereto annexed, personally appeared before us in our county aforesaid and are acknowledged the same to be his act and deed and desired us to certify the said acknowledgement to the Clerk of the county Court of Botetourt in order that the said deed may be recorded.
