F. LIPES Mr. S. F. LIPES died at his home near Springwood June 4, 1899, aged 48 years. Last thursday Mr. LIPES took his gun to kill some crows that were taking his corn. In endeavoring to put the lock down the gun went off, kicking him in the stomach. He suddenly became very sick and gradually grew worse until Sunday morning when he breathed his last. He was quiet and undemonstrative but firm and true. He was an active member of St. Mark's Evangelical Lutheran congregation, and a deacon in his council. He expressed a willingness to die and committed his family to the God of all grace. He was kind and benevolent and will be missed in this community. He leaves a wife, three children, three brothers, two sisters, and many friends to mourne their loss. A funeral sermon was preached by his pastor and his remains were laid to rest at Copps to await the general resurrection. Pastor Unknown paper, June 1899
