Supporting Documents: 1) Request for Marriage License - "To The Clerk of Botetourt County Whereas a marriage is intended to be Solemnised between Charles Beale and my daughter Ann, you will therefore please to issue the license - Given under my hand this 1st Sept. 1808 William Kyle (Seal) Test Robt Kyle Geo Pitzer" 2) Marriage Bond - "KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS, That we Charles Beale and Robert Kyle are held and firmly bound unto William II Cabell, Esq. Governor of the Commonweath of Virginia, in the just and full sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars, current money of the United States of America; and for the payment of which, well and truly to be made to our said Governor and his Successors in Office, for the use of the said commonwealth, we and each of us bind ourselves, our, and each of our several heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals, and dated the 1st day of Sept. 1808. THE condition of the above Obligation is Such, That whereas there is a Marriage shortly intended to be had and solemnized between the above bound Charles Beale and Anna Kyle, daughter of William Kyle. If therefore there be no lawful cause to obstruct said marriage, then the above obligation to be void, otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
