Will of James P. Broughman, 1917 - Botetourt Co. VA

   In the name of God Amen
   I James P. Broughman, residing about five miles north east of Buchanan Botetourt County 
Virginia do make this my Last Will and Testament as follows.
   First, I give and bequeath unto my son Sidney Broughman all of the personal property of 
which I shall die seized or possessed or to which I shall be entitled at the time of my 
decease.
   Second: I give and devise unto my said son Sidney Broughman all of the 68 acres of land more 
or less, on which I now reside situated about five miles north east of Buchanan in Botetourt 
county Virginia, adjoining the lands of W. Wilkinson, Houston Bowyer and S. S. Garland.
   Third: I appoint my said son Sidney Broughman executor of this my Will and desire that no 
security be required of him as such.
   Fourth: I hereby revoke all previous Wills and Codicils heretofore made by me.
   Witness my hand this 26th day of November 1917

   Signed, published and acknowledged by James P. Broughman, as and for his last Will, in the 
presence, and in the presence of each other have hereto subscribed our names of witnesses.

   In the office of the Clerk of the Circuit Court of Botetourt county Jan 24 1921.

   An instrument of writing bearing date Nov 26, 1917 purporting to be the Last Will and 
Testament of James P. Broughman, deceased, was this day produced to me in my office, and fully 
proven by the oath of W. L. Hyde, one of the subscribing witnesses thereto, who testified that 
the said instrument of writing was signed by the said testator and acknowledged by him as his 
last will and testament in the presence of the said W. L. Hyde and the said W. A. Ransone, in 
the presence of and at the request of the testator, and in the presence of each other, signed 
their names thereto as attesting witnesses and that the testator was of sound mind and memory.

   Whereupon the said instrument is admitted to record as the Last Will and Testament of the 
said James P. Broughman, deceased.
