Burgess, Richmond Press, Inc., Richmond, VA, 1929, Pg. 1396. Redmont "Eakin", Soldier of the Revolution. A memorandum of Redmant Akin's will made and uttered the 17th and 18th August, 1781, in the presence of Robert Hutchison, Jonathan Martin and Thomas Martin, at which time he set out to join the Army in order to perform his Tower of Duty, where he took sick and died 3 days after he returned home. The said Redmont Akins allowed his wife the plantation whereon he lived during her life, then to his eldest son William Aikens. His land in Ken. to his daughters Jean and Isbell, Samuel Aiken to act as guardian; his other three daughters, Hannah, Elizabeth, and Elinor. Botetourt Co. Court, 1781. This document presented in court as a noncupative will was allowed and recorded upon oaths of the witnesses, Tho. Martin, Robert Hutchinson and Jonathan Martin. Copy teste, David May, Clerk.
