Will of Matthew Wilson, 1795 - Botetourt Co. VA Botetourt Will Book A, Pages 411-412, Fincastle, VA In the name of God, Amen. I, Matthew Wilson of Botetourt County, being sick and weak in body but sound in mind do make this my last will and testament giving up my soul, to God who gave it to me, and my body to the Blessed Redeemer for the pardon of all my sins and in hope of Joyful Resurrection and Union of soul and body at the last day, my wordly affairs I leave as followeth. I give my sons Thomas wilson and John Steel Wilson my plantation wheron I now live together with a survey of ninety acres joining together with the mill to them jointly but my wife to have the use of one half of the land and half the mill for ten years after which time if they like may dispose of the whole and the money to be equally divided between my said two sons. I give my son Thomas Wilson his riding horse and saddle also two cows. I give my son Samuel Wilson one black horse and oen negro boy. I give to my son Matthew Wilson one sorrel colt and a negro boy Christopher at the durastion of ten years. I give my sons Sam and Matt Wilson all my lands in Kentucky; if either of them die before they come of age or have lawful issue than part to go to the surviving brothers. I give my daughter Janett Wilson one young mare, one negro boy Joe, two cows and two small beds with furniture. I desire that my executors sell the land whereon the widow Edmunston now lives together with the land I hold jointly with Patrick and make the deeds accordingly. The money arising from the sale to be equally divided between Polly, Sally, Betsy and Nancy Wilson. If either of them dies before they arrive to lawful age or have lawful issue then their part or parts to be equally divided between the surviving sister. I give to my loving wife Mary, one negro girl Rachel with all her future increase. Also, my stills and stilling vessels together with stocks of horse, cattle, hogs and sheep, household and kitchen furniture and what money I have due after paying my must debts. Also my negro boy Christopher to stay on the plantation for the span of ten years for the support of my wife and four children, Polly, Sally, Betsy and Nancy Wilson. But if my wife marry they are to be equally divided among my surviving children. Lastly, I nominate and appoint my wife, Mary Wilson, my son Thomas wilson, my friend James Paxton of Rockbridge county executors of this my last will and testament revoking all others setting my hand and seal this 19th day of Sept 1795.
