Mrs. Blalock was born Nov. 6, 1911, in Washington County, Va., and had been a resident of Bristol Virgina most of her life. She was the daughter of the late John V. and Minnie Roberts Fleenor. She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mrs. Blalock was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Dennis Blalock; and a sister, Margaret Lois Fleenor. Survivors include two daughters, Doris Jean Blalock and Mary Jo Shanks and her husband William R. Shanks, and one sister, Mrs. Eula Virginia Odum, all of Bristol Virginia. Also surviving are one grandson, David Shanks; and one granddaughter, Jennifer Shanks. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2003, in Akard Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Amy Yeary Holmes and Rev. Orlando Salazar officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens, Abingdon. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of NHC Healthcare of Bristol Virginia. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 15, 2003.
