She was born in Russell County, Va., and was the daughter of the late Howard and Alta Willis Chafin. Mrs. Carrier was a devoted wife and loving mother. She is survived by her husband, Melvin Carrier; one daughter, Melanie; two sons, Travis and Keith; Keith's wife Zarema; one sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Dennis Huffman; five brothers and sisters-in-law: Lincoln and Hallie Chafin, Dewitt and Doris Chafin and Ronnie Chafin, all of Bristol Virginia; Douglas and Teresa Chafin of Castlewood; and Roger and Carolyn Chafin of Bluff City. A memorial service will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 30, 2003, at East Bristol Baptist Church, 52 Pendergrass Road, Bristol, VA.
