Garman Mary M. Garman, 99, of Bristol Virginia, passed away at 11:40 a.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at Wellmont Bristol Regional Medical Center. Born on Nov. 28, 1903, in Bristol Tennessee, a daughter of the late William C. and Rhoda Lee Smeltzer McCroskey, she has resided in this area her entire life. Mrs. Garman was a former employee of Peter Pan Pastry and Mary Grey Hosiery. She was the oldest living member of Euclid Avenue Baptist Church. Ms. Garman will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, great-great-grandmother and sister. She was a faithful servant of the Lord. Mrs. Garman was preceded in death by her husband, T.C. "Cap" Garman; and by seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include one daughter, Pauline "Polly" Vance of Bristol Tennessee; one son-in-law, Raymond Vance of Bristol Tennessee; one sister, Anna Mae McCroskey of Bristol Virginia; three grandsons, Larry Vance, Fredrick Vance and Gary Vance; five great-grandchildren, Troy Vance, Chad Vance, Nathan Vance, Briana Vance and Morgan Vance; one great-great- grandson, Jordan Vance; one great-great-granddaughter, Madison Vance; and special friends, Walter Conley, Charlotte Wilson and Doris LeHeny. Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, in Susong Cemetery. Dr. Bob Jones will officiate. E-mail condolences may be sent to www.weaverfuneralhome.net.
