Margaret B. Blevins TAYLORS VALLEY, Va. -- Margaret Ball Blevins, 76, died Sunday, Oct. 24, 1999, in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie. She was born in West Virginia, a daughter of the late S.W. and Delta Thompson Ball. She was the widow of Edward Lee Blevins. She was a registered nursing, graduating from the Cadet Nurse Program at Johnston Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She moved to Richmond and was an assistant head nurse in obstetrics for 12 years and a head nurse and assistant supervisor in physical medicine and rehabilitation for 12 years at the Medical College of Virginia. She returned to Taylors Valley and Johnston Memorial Hospital, where she was employed for 16 years as a charge nurse before retiring in 1988. She was a member of Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren and the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 9830. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Blevins Robertson of Richmond; four sisters, Helen Galliher, Estelle Owens, Gaye Bowers and Betty Davidson, all of Taylors Valley; two brothers, Russell Ball and Edgar Ball, both of Taylors Valley; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Walnut Grove Church of the Brethren by Johnson Funeral Home in Damascus. Pastor Terry Johnson will officiate. Chapman, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 29, 1999, at her home. She was the widow of Martin Chapman and a member of Cardwell Town Freewill Baptist Church. Surviving are four sons, Ralph Chapman, Kenneth Chapman and Ricky Chapman, all of Saltville, and Franklin "Jack" Chapman of Port Barre, La.; three daughters, Joan Ellis and Sherry Neal, both of Saltville, and Judy Allisons of Ford, Va.; 20 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cormany MARION -- George "Bus" Campbell Cormany, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 30, 1999 in Smyth County Community Hospital. He was born in Marion, a son of the late Mallie Agnes Scott and Charles Thomas Cormany. He was a member of Stone Memorial Presbyterian Church and the widow of Nannie Aker Cormany. He was a businessman, farmer and worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He helped organize the union and was president of Lincoln Furniture Co. He also was the last surviving charter member of Marion Life Saving Crew, which he helped organize in 1943 and was active in for 50 years in various positions including captain for nine years, president for four years, first lieutenant, second lieutenant and on the board of directors. Surviving are a daughter, Lynn May of Marion; a granddaughter, Michelle May of Knoxville; a sister, Marigold Fox of Marion; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 11 a.m. in Seaver-Brown Chapel. The Rev. William T. Wing III and Father Robert Krenik will officiate. Entombment will be in Rose Lawn Mausoleum. Among survivors are a son-in-law, Sam May of Marion; and special neighbors, the William Seymour family. While working for the U.S. Postal Service, Mr. Cormany transported mail from Marion to Sugar Grove and Troutdale where he met many friends. As a member of the Marion Life Saving Crew for 56 years, he contributed 18,250 days or 437,00 hours of volunteer service. For nine consecutive years, he was present for every meeting and actively participated. He was born in Bristol Tennessee, a son of the late Charles E. Eades Jr. and Ethel Roberts Eades. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a retired carpenter. He was a disabled coal miner and a member of Perkins Chapel Church at Swords Creek. Williams David Tyree Williams, 62, of 21460 Gale Ave., Bristol, Va., died Thursday, Oct. 28, 1999, in Bristol Regional Medical Center. He was a lifelong resident of Bristol Virginia and a truck driver with Country Boy Seed. He was a former Bristol Tennessee police officer, detective and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving in the Korean War. He attended the Cross Town Community Church.
