She was the widow of Robert G. Winn, the late owner of Winn Brothers Furniture Co., and Graham Beavers of Russell County. She is survived by three daughters, Connie Winn Jackson of Blackstone, Gloria Winn Gusha of Hopkinton, Mass., and Bobbie G. Winn of Richmond; a son, Steven C. He was a native of Boone County, W.Va., and had been a resident of Bristol for over 15 years. He was a retired coal miner and of the Holiness faith. Survivors include his wife, Lola A. A lifelong resident of Lebanon, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Kathleen Hicks Martin. She was a 25-year employee of the Lebanon Apparel Corp. She was a member of the Lebanon A.M.E. Zion Church where she served as a deaconess and was a member of the church choir. She was a former member of the Lebanon Jayceettes. Nelson, 39, formerly of Lexington, died Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2000, in Indianapolis from injuries received in an automobile accident. He was a representative for Reebok and a former assistant men's basketball coach at Transylvania University. He was born Dec. 6, 1961, in West Lafayette, Ind., the son of David K. and Elnora Clark Nelson of Owensboro, Ky. He received his bachelor's degree from the University of Kentucky in 1990, and attended Immanuel Baptist Church while in Lexington. At Transylvania he served as coordinator and was responsible for individual player development. He also coached the Transylvania Junior Varsity Team. He was an active Rotarian where he was the recipient of the Paul Harris Fellow Award in September 2000. He taught constitutional law for police officers at Virginia Highlands Community College. Maggie Lane WEBER CITY, Va. -- Maggie Leafty Lane, 87, of Weber City, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at her residence. She was born in Dickenson County, Va., on May 12, 1913, to the late John Henry and Martha Church Sutherland. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy C. Lane, April 19, 1996. She was the widow of Forrest L. Newton Sr. and was preceded in death by her brother, Horace Hutcheson. Mrs. Newton, a native of Jasper, Ala., lived most of her life in East Ridge, Tenn., Atlanta, Ga., and most recently Bristol, Va. She was a Red Cross volunteer at a Northside Hospital for 20 years and a member of Peachtree Corners Presbyterian Church formerly Doraville A.R. Presbyterian Church. Coy Homer Reedy SWORDS CREEK, Va. -- Mr. Coy Homer Reedy, 92, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Abingdon, Va. Born Feb. 25, 1908, in Swords Creek, he was a son of the late R.L. and Alta Vance Reedy. He was a lifelong resident of the Swords Creek area and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired coal miner and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, L.C. Reedy, M.L. "Tom" Reedy and Delmer Reedy; and two sisters, Ora Miller and Exie Miller. Survivors include his wife, Clara Reedy, of Swords Creek; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Lowell and Elizabeth Reedy of Cheraw, S.C., Robert and Carolyn Reedy of Abingdon and Bobby Richardson of Swords Creek; two sisters, Esta Bell Hess and Stella Stiltner, both of Swords Creek; two brothers, Curtis Reedy of Swords Creek and Carnett Reedy of Hiltons, Va.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Snead, 80, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, in Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryant and Grace Snead, and her brother, Wyndham Snead of Saltville. She was a retired secretary of the Olin Chemical Corp. of Saltville and was a member of the Madam Russell United Methodist Church where she had been active with youth work, women of the church and was a Sunday school teacher.
