Carl "Red" McClain KINGSPORT, Tenn. -- Carl W. "Red" McClain, 81, of 921 Glade Mill Road, Kingsport, died at 2:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. A lifelong resident of Sullivan County, he served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. McClain retired from Mead Corporation after more than 30 years of service. Clarence Edgar McCray WHITTIER, Calif. -- Mr. Clarence Edgar McCray, 79, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000. Born in Washington County, Va., he was a son of the late Carl McCray and Venner Little McCray. Mr. McCray was a former resident of Bristol, Tenn., having lived there for 52 years before moving to California. He was a retired service manager with Goodpasture Motor Co. in Bristol and a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. McCray was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Helton McCray, and was a U.S. Army World War II veteran. Here she was a public school music teacher for 30 years before retiring in 1994. She was a member of Ninth Street Baptist Church where she was most recently served as teacher of the Ruth Sunday School Class and had formerly served as music minister. Charlotte was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her Lord, her family and her many friends. Her passion for music and its beauty was shared with hundreds of children over the years.
