Mr. Arms, 50, died Tuesday, May 30, 2000, at home. He was born in Tazewell County, a son of the late Theadore R. and Georgie Dye Arms. He was a former funeral assistant with Singleton Funeral Service. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of Casey-Short VFW Post 9640 and the American Legion. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Ann Arms; two sons, Kenneth T. She was born in Bristol Virginia, a daughter of the late Thomas R. and Florence Bennington James. Before moving to Tucson five years ago, Mrs. Dunlap had been a member of Reynolds Memorial Church since 1931. She retired from the former Monroe Calculating Co. after 22 years of service. Surviving are a son, Jack F. Thomason KINGSPORT -- Dr. John Howard Thomason, 55, of 5002 Shannon St. died Friday, June 2, 2000, at home. He was a son of Matilda Louise Thomason of Kingsport and the late Fred Howard Thomas. He was a member of New Life Church of God. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, a master of science and a doctorate of philosophy from the University of Tennessee. He was employed as an electrical engineer for Martin Marietta and taught in the engineering department of the University of Tennessee from 1967-74. For 13 years, he owned and operated Highland Home Center in Lenoir City. He began a computer consulting business and taught computer programming at Pellissippi State in Knoxville. He established information systems for Knoxville Business College, where he became the department head. In 1995, he became head of computer and information services at Northeast State, and in 1998 he became vice-president of information technology. He was a member of the Rotary Club Board of Directors and the vice-president and president of the Rotary Club in Lenoir City from 1979 to 1987. He was a member of Lenoir City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was vice-chairman and chairman from 1980 to 1993. He was a member of Loudon County Visitors Bureau Board of Directors and chairman of the board from 1988 to 1993. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Highland Hills Christian Academy from 1987 to 1991, and served as treasurer for Highland Hills Church of God in Lenoir City for two years. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Terry Eileen Thomason; a son, James Robert Thomason of Lenoir City; two stepsons, Jeff Abernathy of Asheville, N.C., and the Rev. Marc Abernathy of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in East Lawn Funeral Home. On a more personal note, John was respected and loved as a father, husband and friend. He was very humble, extremely humorous and an all-around great person. He loved practical jokes. Even in the hardest of times, he could always put a smile on his wife's face. We will all miss the joy and excitement that he added to our lives. He enjoyed learning and teaching in the computer field. He said in a recent interview, "I love to see people's faces light up when they `get it,' when they realize what they can do." In describing his life's motivation, he recently said, "I've never been satisfied with what I know. I'm a person who pushes and I've pushed myself all my life." Those of us who knew him know that he was a blessing and touched each life in a special way. He will be greatly missed and always loved. His family, friends, co-workers and students will forever treasure his influence on their lives. Thomason KINGSPORT -- Dr. John Howard Thomason, 55, of 5002 Shannon St. died Friday, June 2, 2000, at home. He was a son of Matilda Louise Thomason of Kingsport and the late Fred Howard Thomas. He was a member of New Life Church of God. He received a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering, a master of science and a doctorate of philosophy from the University of Tennessee. He was employed as an electrical engineer for Martin Marietta and taught in the engineering department of the University of Tennessee from 1967-74. For 13 years, he owned and operated Highland Home Center in Lenoir City. He began a computer consulting business and taught computer programming at Pellissippi State in Knoxville. He established information systems for Knoxville Business College, where he became the department head. In 1995, he became head of computer and information services at Northeast State, and in 1998 he became vice-president of information technology. He was a member of the Rotary Club Board of Directors and the vice-president and president of the Rotary Club in Lenoir City from 1979 to 1987. He was a member of Lenoir City Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and was vice-chairman and chairman from 1980 to 1993. He was a member of Loudon County Visitors Bureau Board of Directors and chairman of the board from 1988 to 1993. He was a member of the Board of Directors of Highland Hills Christian Academy from 1987 to 1991, and served as treasurer for Highland Hills Church of God in Lenoir City for two years. Surviving, besides his mother, are his wife, Terry Eileen Thomason; a son, James Robert Thomason of Lenoir City; two stepsons, Jeff Abernathy of Asheville, N.C., and the Rev. In describing his life's motivation, he recently said, "I've never been satisfied with what I know. I'm a person who pushes and I've pushed myself all my life." Those of us who knew him know that he was a blessing and touched each life in a special way. He will be greatly missed and always loved. He was born in Pike County, Ky., a son of the late Willie and Rose Dotson, and was a lifelong resident of the Paw Paw area. He was a disabled coal miner. Surviving are his wife, Lula Mae Estep Dotson; two daughters, Margaret D. Stiltner of Big Rock, Va., and Carol D. Wolford of Hurley, Va.; seven sons, Bill Dotson, Paul Dotson, Larry Dotson, Edd Dotson and Harold Dotson, all of Paw Paw, Dale Dotson of Rosedale, Va., and Earnel Dotson of Hurley; two sisters, Earmel Estep and Cora Cantrell, both of Hurley; two brothers, Bill Dotson and Earl Dotson, both of Paw Paw; 23 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at noon in Mill Fork Freewill Baptist Church in Paw Paw by Grundy Funeral Home. The Revs. Michael Casey and Britt Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Dotson Cemetery in Paw Paw. Mr. Dotson was also preceded in death by a daughter, Edith Dotson; a sister, Opal Allison; and six brothers, Clell, Earny, Flem, Everett, Anthony and George Dotson. Quesenberry COEBURN -- Marion Harrell Quesenberry, 90, died Saturday, June 3, 2000, in Clay County Care Center in Hayesville, N.C. She was a member of the Christian Church in Suffolk, Va., and attended Coeburn United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of William and Mary College and retired from the Wise County School System in 1975, where she served as a teacher and high school guidance counselor. She was a 25-year member of the Eastern Star, a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and a life member of the Virginia Education Association. She was the widow of Connie Graden Quesenberry Sr. Surviving are a daughter, Constance Q. Fisher of Hiawassee, Ga.; a son, Connie G. Quesenberry Jr. of Rocky Mount, Va.; a brother, Cecil Saunders Harrell of Newport News, Va.; a sister, Florence Harrell Gale of Smithfield, Va.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
