Anderson STERLING, Va. -- Judy Shumaker Anderson, 50, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, after a lengthy illness at her residence. Throughout her illness, Judy was cared for by her Fairfax Hospital co-workers and friends where she had worked as an oncology R.N. for the past 36 years. She was preceded in death by her father, Frank W. Shumaker. She is survived by her mother, June White Shumaker of Bristol Tennessee; her husband of 37 years, Norris W. (Andy) Anderson of Sterling; daughters, Wendy A. Mosholder, Julie N. Anderson and April A. Anderson, all of Sterling; sons-in- law, Alan Mosholder and Joe Dingman; and three grandchildren, Kayla Dingman, Joe Dingman and Ciara Anderson. She is also survived by two brothers, Frank and David Shumaker and one sister, Dolly Shumaker, all of Bristol Tennessee; and many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Church of Christ, 11309 Georgetown Pike, Great Falls, Va., on Wednesday, April 2, 2003, with interment in Sterling Cemetery. Edward Belcher PINEY FLATS -- Edward Belcher, 27, of 691-5 Hamilton Trail, went to be with the Lord Saturday, March 29, 2003, and is in the arms of Jesus. He was born March 9, 1976, in Bristol Tennessee, and has made his home in the Bristol area all of his life. Edward was a 1994 graduate of East High School where he was a member of the football team and was quarterback the 1993-94 season. He was a member of the Mount Holston Baptist Church, an installer for Central Vacuum Services and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps. Survivors include his wife, Michelle Belcher; three sons, Kealan Edward Belcher, Edward Kage Belcher and Kye Wallace Belcher; mother and stepfather, Jennie and David Hardin; father and stepmother, Gene and Vivian Belcher; paternal papaw, Wallace Belcher; maternal step-granddaddy, John Hardin; sisters, Becky Doss and Kim Woodby; stepsisters, Melissa Haskins, Sherry Cook, Karen Johnson and Carla Lanham; stepbrothers, Tony Easterly and Travis Hardin; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Edward was preceded in death by his loving grandmothers, Mildred Belcher and Mary Hazel Hardin. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 2, 2003, at 7 p.m. in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Hardin officiating. Mrs. Cole, a native of Virginia, was the daughter of the late Richard F. and Emma Campbell Gentry, and the widow of Charles David Cole. She had retired as an administrative assistant for the Virginia National Guard Headquarters after 25 years of service. She was a member of the Medowbrook Country Club Woman's Golf Association and the Chester Baptist Church. Mrs. Cole is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Deanie Clements and husband Jim of Chesterfield; and Katherine Smith and husband Rudy of Chester; six grandchildren: Melissa Brockwell and husband Barry of Chesterfield; Sarah Hague of Henrico; David Clements and wife Stacy of Midlothian; Brendon Clements and wife Rebecca of Chesterfield; Travis Hague of Chesterfield; and Josh Clements and wife Kelly of Columbus, Ind.; seven great-grandchildren, Baileigh, Cole, Barrett, Chandler, Drew, Tanner and Layne; numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters-in-law, Sara C. Aubitz and Jean C. Doss; and a brother-in-law, Bob Cole and his wife, Jean G. Cole. A funeral service was held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in the chapel of the E. Alvin Small Funeral Home, 2033 Boulevard, Colonial Heights, with Dr. Ed Stansfield officiating. Interment followed in Sunset Memorial Park, Chester. Corcoran ABINGDON -- Patricia Thelma Corcoran, 83, a resident of 280 Senior Drive, Apartment C, died Monday, March 31, 2003, in the Johnston Memorial Hospital. Hassie Dotson MAVISDALE, Va. -- Mrs. Hassie Dotson, 85, passed away Monday evening, March 31, 2003, at Pleasant View Home for Adults at Honaker following a long illness. Born May 10, 1917, in Buchanan County, Va., she was a daughter of the late Morgan and Rosie Keen Price, both Buchanan County natives. A lifelong resident of the Buchanan County area, she was a member of the Garden Creek Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ransom Dotson; one sister; and four brothers. In her generation, she was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Survivors include two daughters: Mrs. Bennie (Arbadella) Endicott of Cedar Bluff, Va.; and Mrs. Edwin (Linda) Martin of Hayesville, N.C.; one son, Charles W. Dotson and his wife, Maxine of Cedar Bluff; three grandchildren: Reva Endicott and Joe Endicott, both of Cedar Bluff; and Ben Martin of Hayesville; three great-grandchildren, Zoe Endicott, Grayson Endicott and Leah Endicott, all of Cedar Bluff, also survive. Falkie MARION -- Hazel Hester Falkie, 68, widow of Robert Gordon Falkie, died Tuesday, April 1, 2003, in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was a longtime member of the Marion Life Saving Crew, retired from Buster Brown and currently working at the Lifetime Wellness Center. She is survived by one daughter, Robin Burton of Arizona; one son, Joe Falkie of Marion; one sister, Peggy Johnson of Crozet, Va.; two brothers and one sister-in-law: Ray Hester of Marion; and Rodney and Frankie Hester of Crozet; one brother-in-law, Everett Brown of Speedwell, Va.; one granddaughter, Cari Burton of Phoenix, Ariz.; and several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. He was the widower of Susie Russell Stuart. Born in Glade Spring, he was the son of the late Carson Stuart and Meredith Carter Stuart. He was an employee of United States Gypsum Co. as a forklift operator and was a member of Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church, missionary, PTC, and male chorus.
